Boldness

Boldness

"The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion." (Prov.28:1)

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us." (1Jn.4:17-19)

“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!" (Lk.12:4-5)

Righteousness, in and of itself, is bold in the eyes of this world. The very act of being what a Christian is supposed to be, is called to be, is boldness to the workers of iniquity.

Why?

Because light exposes darkness for what it is. Light, by its nature, illuminates the shadows and exposes satan. The works of the righteous are so clearly different than the works of the unrighteous that one cannot help but see a vast contrast; it's as clear a contrast as light is from dark, east from west, heaven from hell. In the eyes of man, righteousness is truly bold. When we work the works of God, which He has comanded we do as His servants and adopted children, then we have every reason to be bold and cast out fear. The fear of God motivates a love and righteousness that moves us to action, fear of man rejects God and freezes us in our tracks.

Which will you have this day?
Bold as a lion? Or will you flee in terror?

Our actions show our answer.

"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling." (Psa.46:1-3)

Realize the abundant mercies and riches of the Lord God Almighty, be bold by being faithful to Him!

"How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light." (Psa.36:7-9)
