Lesson Of The Bible In Life

Lessons of the Bible in Life

When we read the Old Testament we see a history of God dealing with people, God separating out a people set apart to serve Him and through which would come the Messiah. We see man's foolishness but also the best of what man can do when he puts his faith and hope in the Lord. God is shown to us through those accounts. It wasn't until this morning that the lesson dawned on me while reading Psalm 71:

"For You are my hope, O Lord God ; You  are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day. Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together, Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there  is none to deliver him.” O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt. But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth. You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side." ( Ps.71:5-21)

Our life is supposed to be another tool to teach us to trust the Lord, to see Him work, to learn to depend on Him. The things which happen to us throughout our life here are just as much a "history" - even while we go through them - of how the Lord upholds the righteous and casts down the unrighteous. Do we not see it?? Now that I've realized and seen this I cannot un-see it.

Am I learning the lesson God has been showing humanity since the beginning?!!!

What a foolishness to fail to see it when it's written down clearly for all to see; what an even greater foolishness to ignore what I know from personal experience.

Are you learning to trust the Lord, to follow His path, to lean upon Him? Are you seeing His salvation, His mercy, His longsuffering? The fact we're still here is reason enough, but God's evidence is all around us if we would but open our eyes.

Friends, see the Lord work. In order to do this, we must be at peace with our God and look through spiritual eyes. If we try to see as man sees then we'll misapply the lessons of life that God shows us every day. God's word teaches us how to follow Him, are we using His instruction manual or attempting to write our own? Pay attention. We often in our studies stop and ask the question, "How could they miss it..." and yet how often do we miss it? Friend, I've missed so much by ignoring the obvious in front of me. Let us awaken our souls to see the Lord in our life -- but God won't be there if we're not serving Him properly and viewing clearly this life through redeemed eyes.
