Hated

Hated

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also..." (Jn.15:18-20)

These words Jesus spoke to His disciples before He would shortly go to the cross to die for the sins of the world. These words were spoken to His disciples; like those by His side at this time, we are His disciples we're truly been obedient to His commands (Matt.6:33; Matt.11:28-30; Lk.13:3; Jn.14:23-24; Mk.16:15-16).

The saving words of Jesus Christ will cause those of this world, whose hearts are set on sin and darkness, to hate us for speaking it. As the scripture says, the world hated our Savior so they will certainly hate us for speaking His words. Friend, this is what we signed up for!

Following in the footsteps of our Lord, truly, means that at times we will suffer in this life and be despised by those content living in sin. What do we expect? Does the knowledge of this fact cause us to think twice about speaking His message to the lost? May it not be so any longer, friend. May we be like those Christians of the first century, like His Apostles who were beaten for speaking His name and rejoiced because they were counted worthy to suffer (Ac.5)

There is a place prepared for the faithful of God, let each of us reach that eternal rest by submitting to the Lord and following Him completely.
