With All Your Might

With All Your Might

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going." (Eccl.9:10)

A good verse to remember, especially when we're tempted to not be industrious, to be lazy, or to not give something our best effort. There are times when we need to relax and regain our strength, but there are also times when that relaxation ends and we need to get back to work. Our life should not be one of constant recreation or relaxation, this is wasting the life the Lord has given us - our role here on this earth within this body, both of which God created, is to work with the time He is so graciously giving us. So whatever we find to do, provided it is right to do of course, then we need to give it our best.

This is yet another area in the life of a Christian where we should be set apart from the world. Even when we're doing some "menial" task, we give it our best. Understand that our best is not necessarily someone else's best, but that's not the point; rather the question is are we working and are we returning unto God the very best we have?

Consider further:

"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality." (Col.3:17,23-25)

As Christians are we not all servants of God? So then what must we all do in service to God -- serve Him with all our might in all we do. Let's give to God our very best today and every day remembering that this body we're given isn't made to last forever, but our soul is. Realizing this fact, let us use our bodies in total devotion to God and not use them for unrighteousness. All that we do, let it all be done to please the One who gave us this flesh and the domain of earth upon which to work.

Praise and thank the Lord that we have the time and ability to serve Him!
